I believe in one God, the Father,
the source of all being, beyond need and beyond change,
whose glory no praise can increase and no silence can diminish.
I believe in the Son, the eternal Word,
who sits upon the throne of God yet speaks for the honour of the Father.
Through Him the worlds were made,
and through Him the heart of creation learns to call its Maker “Father.”
I believe that at Sinai His voice thundered,
not to magnify Himself but to guard the name of the Father.
His commandments were love spoken in the language of law,
and His jealousy was the zeal of perfect devotion.
I believe that He rejoiced in the building of the Temple,
delighting that the Father’s greatness should be made visible upon the earth.
When that house was defiled, His grief became righteous anger—
for the worship meant for the Father had been sold for gain.
I believe that in Jesus the Word became flesh
to cleanse that defilement once for all.
His body became the true and incorruptible temple,
where every heartbeat was worship,
every wound a prayer for the Father’s glory.
I believe that on the cross His jealousy reached its perfection:
He gave Himself, not to claim love for His own name,
but to turn all love back to the Father from whom it came.
In His resurrection the temple was rebuilt in everlasting life,
and His peace became the dwelling place of all who believe.
I believe that He now reigns beside the Father,
not as rival, but as Son fulfilled in perfect rest.
His voice still whispers through creation:
“Behold your God; love Him with the love that burns in Me.”
And I believe that wherever hearts remember the Father with pure devotion,
the jealousy of the Son becomes joy,
and the glory of God fills the living temple of humankind.
Amen.
