I believe in the Lord of Light,
who made all things to be seen and known,
and in whose presence nothing is lost.
I believe that theft is born of darkness,
that hiding is the root of corruption,
and that secrecy is the shadow of fear.
I believe that the treasures of earth perish
because they are buried in concealment,
where moth and rust do their silent work
and the hands of thieves find their paths through clay.
But the treasures of heaven are unstealable,
for they dwell in the open air of truth,
where nothing can be hidden,
and every heart is transparent before God.
I believe that the Kingdom of Heaven
is the realm of unveiled faces,
where love no longer disguises itself,
and all possession is shared in light.
Therefore I will lay up my treasure in heaven—
not behind walls or beneath earth,
but in deeds that can live in the day,
in mercy that fears no witness,
and in truth that needs no guard.
For where openness is, there is God;
and where nothing is hidden,
there nothing can be stolen.
Amen.
